Farmington Branch & Jicarilla Apache Reservation
My final task for work required that I drive out to our office on the Jicarilla Apache Reservation. There's nothing railroad-related out there, but it's quite pretty. There are persistent rumors of BNSF building a branch to Durango/Hesperus and it would likely traverse this area. Too bad the 4th Division of the Rio Grande isn't still in place to haul that traffic. |
Across the parking lot from my hotel is this building with a decidedly railroad look to it. The backside faces the mainline of the Farmington Branch and has loading doors. My guess is they're a former customer of the narrow gauge!

The dirt road is the RoW and you can see the loading doors for what was likely a team track.
