Farmington & Chama

Aztec, New Mexico
With the arrival of our son, Noah, I had no plans and no hope for visiting Narrow Gauge Country this year. So, when my employer needed me in Farmington for a few days, I got pretty excited. The timing worked out so that I'd be there during the end of Friend's Work Session C. So, I got spousal approval to go over for a visit and took a day of vacation.
As it turns out, I had enough time to get some real work done in Chama and installed the new external microphones for the webcams. It wasn't easy, but the results are fantastic!
I absolutely detest the TSA and flying. But for a work trip, driving isn't an option. So, I flew to Albuquerque, rented a car, and drove up to Farmington. On the way out of ABQ, I found a Chipotle. SCORE!
The second day in Farmington, I had time after work to do some exploring. I started a thread on the NGDF to get some help finding remnants of the Farmington Branch of the Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad. It's pretty neat that the oil company I work for generates revenue from an oil and gas field that was opened up, in part, because the railroad I study for a hobby was able to bring supplies into the area. That's just cool! |
Aztec - Not sure if these structures are railroad-related, but they look like they could be. Note the Depot in the background on the right. |
