On Dec 30, 2006 we went up to Palestine, TX for an evening on the Texas State Railroad. The lighting at sunset was beautiful and Chel got several great pictures from the truck.
After a gourmet meal on the train at the station, they ran us out about 5 miles down the line to Jarvis under a near full moon. The night was crisp (in the low 40's) and the air was exceptionally fresh up in the isolated piney woods of east Texas. It was truly a GREAT evening. Good food, good company, a cold night in the woods, and steam railroading... PERFECT!
The new owner/operators (American Heritage Railways) of this railroad have told me that they're planning to offer this unique trip again starting in 2008. |
